Thursday is much of the same, although the hydro comes back on mid-morning, and that evening, Lexi cooks the pot roast. Of course, it’s to die for along with her homemade apple pie.

When nighttime arrives, I start to feel a little anxious because I love sleeping beside her, but since the hydro is back on and I’m not on my deathbed anymore, there’s no reason for us to continue sleeping together. But, to my surprise, Lexi asks me if I want to watch a movie in her room. Of course, I jump at the chance but also can’t help but wonder if she did it intentionally, because we both happen to fall asleep in each other’s arms mid-way through the movie.

Each morning, when I wake up, I’ll give her a soft kiss, but I don’t take it any further, as promised.

When Friday morning rolls around, we each have a shower, ensuring we don’t say the ‘S’ word out loud for a certain pair of razor-sharp doggy ears. After having a delicious breakfast, I volunteer to wash the dishes, and she dries them.

“It’s so weird having help, but it’s kind of nice; maybe you can help me chop wood today or tomorrow.”

I grin like a fool.

“Will you get hot enough to streak around naked?”

She laughs and smacks me with the towel.

“Better yet, I’ll let you chop the wood, and you can streak around naked,” she says boldly, making me chuckle.

“So, are we going to the parade?”

She narrows her eyes at me. “How do you know about the parade?”

“Sarah told me. She mentioned she’ll have hot cocoa for us. Sorry, I forgot all about it until now.”

“Yeah, sure, but only if you want to go. I didn’t ask because I figured you wouldn’t be interested.”

“I think it will be fun,” I say truthfully.

“Are you sure?” she asks, and I nod.

“It’s a night parade, so maybe we can go out for dinner first. Actually, we can head into town this afternoon, and I can show you around,” she says, all super excited, and talking a mile a minute.

“I would love that.”

She throws her arms around my neck, crushing me with a hug. It’s the first time she’s shown me affection without me initiating it first, and she doesn’t pull back, going all shy on me or thinking it’s wrong.

This is definitely a good sign!

“How will we get into town?” I ask, and she pulls back only to grin at me some more.

“I bought a battery for the snowmobile. You can take the snowmobile or Bear; it doesn’t matter.”

I shake my head.

The woman literally thinks of everything!

We spend the next hour in the hot tub and another hour on the puzzle, but it’s not long before Lexi gets ants in her pants, super excited until she can’t sit still any longer. It suddenly occurs to me that this will be her first date, but the shitty thing is, she’ll be paying for everything. But I’ll make it up to her, and hopefully, I get a chance at Christmas.
